Frustrated West Australians still unsure if they will be able to escape overseas for the January school holidays have flooded the Rottnest Island reservations system this morning.
Many took to social media to vent their anger at long wait times and booking issues after flocking to the website and jamming phone lines as reservations opened at 8.30am for January 2022 accommodation.
One Twitter user put the stampede into sharp perspective with a post showing there were 7927 people ahead of her in the queue.
Another social media user said her wait was even longer, with 8036 people waiting to book.
Claire Horrocks-Money said: “I was 100 in queue at 8.30am then got hung up on after 20 mins. We are really disappointed in the appalling system in place — it happen last month as well so you would think you’d have something better set up by now.”
Karys Bovell said: “Lucky I checked the Facebook page for this link after 8 mins of trying … now there’s only 9200 waiting in front of me, pretty disappointed.”
The Rottnest Island Authority took to Facebook shortly before bookings opened to offer some reassurance it was working to resolve any issues…
