A dozen people aboard a V/Line train have had a lucky escape after it hit a garbage truck in Melbourne’s west.
The Ballarat line train, carrying 10 passengers, a driver and conductor, hit the truck at Truganina just before 11.30am on Monday.
No one was trapped or seriously injured, a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman said.
One lady was taken to hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
V/Line said it had brought in buses to replace trains, with services impacted over the afternoon.
Passengers travelling between Wendouree and Southern Cross will travel via replacement coaches between Wendouree and Sunshine.
They will then travel via metropolitan services between Sunshine and Southern Cross to complete their journey.
Commuters are asked to allow an extended journey time of up to 90 minutes.
The incident unfolded on the line between Caroline Springs and Rockbank.
