A skydiving instructor remains in a stable condition after a horrifying crash in one of Australia’s most popular wine regions.

Emergency services were called to McLaren Vale, south of Adelaide, on Sunday afternoon following reports of a malfunction during a jump.

Witnesses recalled seeing the instructor and his customer tumbling towards the ground.

“I saw the one spiralling around while I was out walking on the shiraz trail,” Paula Sanders told the McLaren Vale Community Facebook page.

“I was really worried about it and tried to watch where they landed but lost sight behind some trees.”

Heather Nethercot said she saw the incident from her backyard.

“(It) looked like the parachute had split in the middle,” she said.

“There was a lot of noise as the parachute tried to open.

“He came down so much quicker than the other parachuter that jumped first.”

Alishia Walker said she thought something was wrong as “it looked like he was spiralling and falling a lot faster than the other one”.

The 27‐year‐old customer was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged…
