Landownders across the country are taking advantage of the demand in staycation summer holidays this year and opening up their land to create pop-up tourist campsites. From stately homes to alpaca farms, Britons can hire a pitch and enjoy what the country has to offer.

He said: “The camping market is the one market able to respond to this unprecedented growth demand we are expecting this year.

“The types of locations are really fascinating and not the sort we’ve seen before – race courses and country showgrounds for example. 

“Many shire counties have had to cancel county shows and this has been a great way to recoup some of those losses.

“There are lots of farms. There might also be experiences they can offer such as farm tours or tractor rides.”

Whitby Showgrounds is also on the cards with a non-electric pitch costing £65 per night which includes entry to Whitby War Weekend in late August.
