The Britannia Hotel in Norway is ready to welcome guests for a low-key but special Christmas

A vaccine is on the way. Europe’s second wave is subsiding, and in many places, restrictions are easing. There’s a lot to celebrate.
But since it’s still way too early to celebrate with a big family gathering, hotels around the world are stepping in with festive programs. They’ve already been going above and beyond to help locals ease their lockdown blues. (Or to make them comfortable and happy as newly remote workers.) The idea is for locals to spend a few days in the holiday spirit with their immediate family, keeping safely to themselves but making good memories in spite of everything, with hotels supplying the holiday spirit in spades.
From Norway to the northern Yucatán, here’s where to celebrate in style. (Note that everything is subject to change given these strange times we live in.)

Wil Lee-Wright Britannia Hotel, Trondheim, Norway
At this newly reborn grand hotel, a special Christmas package includes a luxurious stay from December 23 to 26, meals at the hotel’s Palmehaven restaurant, a special holiday-inspired afternoon tea, welcoming hot toddies in the well-stocked wine cellar and daily activities for kids such as marzipan sculpting classes with the hotel’s confectioners. And Christmas aside, guests can order breakfast in bed at no extra charge during all of December.
