In addition to crafting exacting scale models of modern jets, yachts and cars, the workshops of the … [+] Amalgam Collection excel at historical reproductions, as well.

Don’t think of the Amalgam Collection as some kind of high-end toy maker. Think of the operation as a serious micro-fabricator that often builds fun. With workshops in the UK, China and Hungary, the company began their scale automobile model services in 1995 when founder Sandy Copeman approached Grand Prix and F1 racing teams to create exacting, meticulous renditions of their cars for development purposes, exhibition, display, education, collecting and gifting. And, over the ensuing years, eye-popping automotive scale models have been a primary focus for the firm’s craftsmen, with everything from relatively accessible pre-built 1:18 models of popular classic cars (from about $800) to impressive, larger 1:8 models (from about $13,000).
But they have also excelled at collaborating with fans and owners of special vehicles to create fully bespoke one-off scale models; a kind of “ultimate” Hot Wheel…on steroids (which, of course, can cost quite a bit more). Designer Ralph Lauren and watchmaker Richard Mille, to name just two, have had some of their personal vehicles delightfully recreated in scale. And beyond that, Amalgam is also a development and supply partner with automakers like Ferrari and Bugatti.
