During the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Cancun last month, a primary point of discussion revolved around empowering and improving the role of women in travel and tourism leadership positions.
At the hybrid virtual and in-person conference, which hosted nearly 600 travel leaders and CEOs from around the world, WTTC leaders launched the Cancun Women’s Declaration. Martina Navratilova, winner of nine Grand Slam singles title winner, and WTTC President & CEO Gloria Guevara (the first woman to hold the position) announced a new initiative to promote equality for women in the travel and tourism industry.

The WTTC Cancun Women’s Declaration recognizes the “importance of an equal, equitable environment to enable them to thrive as leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators.”
More than 100 companies, destinations and industry leaders pledged support for the plan. They include Hilton, Carnival Corporation, Expedia, IHG and Barcelona Tourism among many others…
