Vehicle travel, obtained from roadway data provided to AP by StreetLight Data, showed Americans travelled far less this November compared to the same period last year, with a 20% drop in those travelling by road.
This changed during the Thanksgiving period, however, with traffic bouncing back to just 5% lower than pre-pandemic levels, peaking on Thanksgiving Day.
The founder of StreetLight Data, Laura Schewel, said the data shows that “people were less willing to change their behavior than any other day during the pandemic.”
