QANTAS has now reopened bookings across its entire overseas network from July 1, 2021, which includes flights to the USA & London, having previously pulled those flagship routes from the schedule until at least October 2021.

A Qantas spokesperson told Executive Traveller the airline has “aligned the selling of our international services to reflect our expectation that international travel will begin to restart from July 2021.”

“We continue to review and update our international schedule in response to the developing COVID-19 situation.”

New Zealand has remained the only overseas destination listed on Qantas’ timetable through to March 29, however, it will hopefully be joined by a fuller schedule by the summer.

This positive news comes after Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said back in late November that: “Passengers will need to provide proof they’ve had the COVID-19 vaccine in order to board the Qantas international flights.”

“We are looking at changing our terms and conditions to say for international travellers, we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft,” he said at the time.

It is unclear whether this is going to still be the company’s stance come July this year, although the worldwide beginning of vaccinations and preflight COVID-19 testing is said to be the catalyst for this announcement.
