“It’s important to show that we don’t only have to survive, we can also thrive,” Abeer Alshaali, Acting CEO at Gulf Craft, told Forbes as he announced the completion of the Majesty 175. The world’s largest composite yacht, Majesty 175 is a timely show of force from the UAE-based luxury yacht manufacturer which, like many shipyards around the world, faced myriad challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020.
Made from a smart hybrid composite, Majesty 175 the largest in her class and, at 54m, she’s also the shipyard’s largest build to date. The megayacht – designed by Cristiano Gatto Design with naval architecture by Yankee Delta Studio – was first announced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2016. Four years later, she’s finally on her way to her owner, a prominent Emirati businessman.
Alshaali spoke to Forbes about what makes Majesty 175 so special and the challenges and opportunities of boatbuilding in the UAE during the pandemic.
